Contract metal stamping service ...

Do you need metal parts for your product or assembly? we can help.

Fairfit produce stamped metal parts for New Zealand  and overseas companies, accurately, consistently and cost effectively.

Using progressive dies, process automation and automated packing we achieve high productivity with a high degree of capability.

Fairfit produce parts from locally supplied and imported metals. Locally sourced metals include, Mild Steel, Galvanized Steel, Stainless Steel and Electro Galv Steel. Imported metals include, Spring Stainless, Nickle Silver, Phosphor Bronze, Brass Copper Alloys and others.

Advanced stamping systems ...

Fairfit operate advanced stamping systems to manufacture your parts. Our press lines consist of a coil dispensers, Automatic feeders, power press and automated carton filling machines. The stamping process is controlled by PLC with a touch screen to select parameters for each product we manufacture. With the touch screen we can select and control lubricant applications, air blasts, sensors, in die air cylinders, and pilot release functions. We use the touch screen to enter run quantity, carton quantity and quality check frequency. In-die sensors, solenoid valves and the touch screen are connected to the PLC. At Fairfit we program our PLC's and touch screens in house, providing a great deal of control, and capability to manufacture your parts reliably.

Die protection, smart die technology ...

In-die sensors, are used to detect metal position, part eject and movement of critical parts to ensure the process is operating correctly. This technology stops the process and protects dies from damage, enhancing part quality and die life. Dies without sensors are prone to damage, cause costly repairs and compromise the quality of parts. Allowing die damage reduces the useful life of the die and causes supply disruptions. Some customers have experienced these issues, before coming to us for their parts, and have paid costly tool and die repairs. Our priority is to protect your tooling assets during manufacturing with sensor technology.

Fairfit guarantee ...

We back our service with a guarantee for the design life of any tool we design build and run. Sourcing your pressed metal parts from Fairfit gives you supply security and peace of mind.

R&D part prototype service ...

Fairfit prototype service helps you get your products to market.

If you need accurate prototype, pressed  or stamped, metal parts, we can help by developing near production quality parts for testing in your product assembly.

Metal parts are used in product assemblies for 3 unique property groups:

  1. Mechanical ... tensile strength, hardness, spring qualities, rigidity, wear resistance and formability.

  2. Electrical ... conductivity of base metal and electroplated coatings important for contacts and connectors.

  3. Thermal ... wide range of metals with different coefficients of thermal expansion provide designers with choice. Some applications need a large thermal delta, some need low numbers, others want a metal with same rates of movement as an adjoining material where joined parts must remain sealed thru rapid and large temperature ranges.

When developing a new product it is essential that testing is done with production quality or near production quality prototype parts so you can trust the results. Poor quality, or inconsistent prototype parts will frustrate development with unreliable test results and add cost.

Fairfit can work with you to provide prototype metal parts with the qualities to meet the requirements you are looking for. We have experience with a large range of metal types.

Fairfit can advise on the manufacturability of you part.

Fairfit can carry out dynamic repetitive testing to assess wear and fatigue.

We use a number of different processes to prototype metal parts. Often we make simple low cost tooling to produce prototypes. Tooling is designed so it can be modified as economically as possible if required. Prototype tooling is often used for low volume production of parts to help get projects off the ground before needing to commit to full production setup costs.

Examples of stamped metal parts developed using Fairfit prototype tooling illustrate the benefits:-

Tool & die design service ...

30 years' experience designing, building, operating and maintaining, all sorts of tooling counts when offering die design service.  We offer the following service:

  1. Die Design only:  Fairfit design a die for you to build yourself or have built by another company.

  1. Die Design, Build and run: Fairfit design, build and run a die to manufacture your parts.

Die Types ...

A tool or a die is the same thing, a piece of equipment we use to stamp individual parts that are assembled into everyday things like cars, phones, appliances, and computers. The 3 most common types of tool or die are:

  1. Metal Stamping Dies

  2. Plastic Injection Moulding Dies

  3. Pressure Die Casting Tools

Fairfit Tooling specialize in designing and building Metal Stamping Dies, then running them to manufacture all sorts of metal parts.

Metal Stamping Dies ...

There are many types of metal stamping dies, commonly called "press tools", the 3 main types are:

  1. Single stage die

  2. Transfer die

  3. Progressive die

  1. A single stage die either cuts a part out of a piece of steel or it is used to bend or form a new feature in part that has come from another die. Often several single stage dies are built to produce a stamped metal part by moving the part from one die to the next.

  2. A transfer die blanks a flat a part out of a sheet or strip of metal. Then  a reciprocating set of fingers grab, move and position the part along the die. Successive operations are performed, adding features, until the part is finished.

  3. A progressive die is essentially a bunch of single stage tools combined into one. Metal is fed into one end of the die and progressed thru the die one stage at a time. At each stage another operation takes place to generate a finished part that is ejected out the other end of the die

Single stage dies are lower cost to design and build, but parts are relatively higher cost, as more labor is required to produce a finished part than the other 2 die types.

Progressive dies and transfer dies are higher cost, but finished parts are lower cost, as several operations are sequentially performed in a single die.

Progressive die design experts ...

Our core expertise is progressive die design coupled with process automation design. We can design a progressive die and automated stamping system from handling pallets of steel thru to packing finished parts in cartons.

A progressive die is complex and an important, often key investment for any business. A poorly designed die will leave you with reliability problems, poor quality, inconsistent parts and a die with a short life span. These issues will compromise your ability to supply and end up costing you.

Having designed built and operated several hundred dies our approach is well proven and reliable.

Press tool maintenance & repair service ...

If you have a press tool or metal stamping die that needs maintenance we can help.

Single stage press tools:   Blanking tools:   Aluminum extrusion crop tools: Notching and piercing tools:  Progressive dies:  Multi-slide tooling.

Sharpen:  Eliminate or minimize burrs on your part by keeping tooling sharp and optimize tool & die life.

Repair: We fix or replace damaged tool parts, so you have trouble free production. Chipped edges, broken punches cracked die sections.

Recondition: When press tools get excessively worn or parts of the tool are at the end of their life a tool recondition can get you back in production. Die sections with holes and cavities down past the bottom of the "land" from sharpening can often be reverse engineered and remade along with punches, striper plates and punch holders to get accuracy back so parts can be manufactured in tolerance and the tools run reliably.

Modification: Add  or remove a feature on the part being stamped, or change an existing feature.

No hassle pick up and delivery ...

Fairfit arrange pickup and delivery from anywhere in New Zealand.

All you do is secure the tool to a pallet and we get Team Global to collect it, then deliver back to you when completed. If you tell us the weight and cube, we can advise freight cost in advance.

Cost and lead time estimates ...

Often we can estimate costs and lead times if you email images and a brief on what issues you have with the tool or what you would like done.

Free Quotes ...

We always provide you a fixed quote before starting any maintenance work. When we receive it we disassemble what we need to assess and work out costs. If you choose not to proceed we  will re assemble and send it back at no charge apart from freight cost.

Rakino SJL3 Carton filling machines ...

Metal Stamping:         Injection Moulding:         Spring winding:

Reduce Labor .... Increase Productivity ...  Lower Costs ...

Rakino SJL3 will automate carton filling from your existing manufacturing process. This machine is used alongside other production machinery to automate packing your manufactured parts into cartons. Unique features enable increased productivity from your existing production processes while freeing machine operators to do other tasks.

What Rakino SJL3 does ...

  1. Automatically move empty cartons to a filling station under a shoot.

  2. During production, parts flow down the shoot into the carton.

  3. While filling, the carton is periodically agitated to settle parts and prevent mounding.

  4. When the full carton quantity is reached, full carton is pushed along to a lift station by an empty carton.

  5. While production continues, the full carton is lifted then pushed along a roller table at a comfortable height for an operator to inspect and close and stack without strenuous lifting and bending.

How Rakino SJL3 works ...

The Rakino SJL3 moves cartons using air cylinders that are controlled by a PLC and touch screen. Empty cartons are erected by an operator and loaded on their side into a vertical magazine. When a clamp is released a single carton drops and flipped upright. Next it is pushed along with an air cylinder to the filling and agitation station. While filling, an air cylinder rapidly agitates the carton so parts move around and settle. The operator can fine tune how parts settle with the touch screen, agitation speed, number of agitations per cycle, and at what stage during the filling process each agitation cycle occurs, up to 6 cycles per carton. The operator enters the full carton quantity and the counting is done with a microswitch or proximity sensor mounted on you production machine. When an empty carton is pushed into position it in turn pushes the full carton along onto a lift station. An air cylinder lifts this station level with a roller table. Another air cylinder pushes the full carton off the lift station onto the roller table and all the cartons on the table index their way along. An operator then clears the roller table at a convenient time.

Rakino SJL3 continues working automatically while you production process is operating. The vertical carton stack magazine can be safely toped up while production is underway.

Versatile and quick set up for each job ...

The Rakino SJL3 is designed to be quickly and easily reconfigured for different jobs and moved to different machines around a factory on its castors. Adjustable rubber feet hold it in place for production. The Rakino SJL3 can be moved from one machine to another and configured to a different carton sizes in under 20 minutes. The vertical magazine stack, carton guide rails and end stop are all adjusted then fixed in position with cap screws tightened with an Allen key. The touch screen allows all parameters to be set or modified quickly. Values for full carton quantity and agitation cycles, to suit each part or product being manufactured are entered . Access to setup allows manual testing of each action during setup.

Eliminate heavy lifting ...

Rakino SJL3 is 3rd generation carton filling machine designed and manufactured by Fairfit Engineering and in constant use in house, for contract metal stamping It has paid for itself by reducing labor, increasing productivity, making work easier and eliminate heavy lifting.

Rakino SJL3 next to 80 ton stamping press runs continuously wile cartons are automatically filled, agitated and moved along roller table.
